AAL Racing Rules

General:
To compete in the Endurance League you must race clean and fair. Racers causing accidents on a regular basis may lose his membership. Read the Recommended CRC Driver Behaviour for a deeper understanding of what we expect from our drivers.
All members must read the General CRC Race Rules.

Note that any other rule written on this page supersedes these rules.

Minimum connection speed:
The absolute minimum you must have is 256k/64k ADSL. 512/128k is recomended.

If you disconnect you must not re-join the race (except in timed enduro's).

Game settings:
Weather and wind settings may be adjusted on a race by race basis.

LFS version:
The latest version will be used for all races. Patches must have been available for at least 36 hours before the race for them to be used.

Patches that have major changes to physics may incur delays. The Administrators will notify if there are deviations to this rule.

Race Leaders:
For each race there will be an assigned race leader. This will either be one of the league staff, or an experienced league racer. The race leader is the one who makes the final decision about restarts during warm-up, and any disagreements with the rules.

The race leader is responsible for starting the race on time, and records the replays we publish.
A guide for race leaders will be available shortly. You must listen to and follow the instructions of your race leaders at all times.

Seasons:
Seasons will vary in racers and cars. See the Season rules for details.

Ingame chat:
There is to be NO ingame chatting during AAL Qualifing and Races. You must also be quiet whilst the Race leader is giving instructions. You must also follow these instructions.

We ask that message "blocking" not be used, drivers may need to recieve messages from race leaders.

Divisions:
Racers are sorted into divisions based on hotlap time for the track where the race is held. The hotlap for each track may be improved up until each race's registration deadline. We will endevour to have the maximum racers in each division.

Racer "No Shows":
If you are registered for a race but do not show up and do not inform an AAL admin then you will be given a "Yellow card". If you recieve two yellow cards in two months you will be banned from the next two races.

Qualifying:
Qualifying will consist of an open 20 minute session. It is up to you to put in a clean lap during this time.  Racers not on "HOT LAPS" should keep of the racing line and make room for other racers who are on fast laps. If you are found to be deliberately blocking someone you will be disqualified from that race. No drivers shall use co-ordinated "drafting" or "slipstreaming" to gain advantage during qualifying.

Rolling starts:
Unless specified a rolling start is used. The car in pole position drives at 50% race pace (approx 90km/s). There is to be no weaving or tyre warming during this rolling start period.

At a set point (usually the last corner) the race leader calls the "GREEN FLAG" - from this point full speed is allowed. However, overtaking is strictly forbidden until you pass the start/finish line (or specified point)!

If you lose your position due to an accident on lap 1, you may call for a restart - make sure to ask before the green flag is given.

- Running starts are made in a single file (or column) - it is not allowed to go 2-wide unless it is neccesary to avoid a collision.
- After the green flag has been called, it is strictly forbidden to deliberately drive slowly (for example to give your teammate a gap over an opponent).

Race:
Amount of laps will vary depending on track but race time will be in the region of 50-70 minutes for full races, 25-35 for sprint events. See event details for race duration.

If you disconnect you must not re-join the track (except timed enduro's). You may however rejoin the server and spectate.

You must not warp to the pits and rejoin if you have a crash and cannot continue, run out of fuel or get bogged etc. This is classified as a mechanical failure and your race is over. In timed enduro's this is allowed but you may be given a lap penalty.

Use of track:
Cutting corners on the inside of tire stacks is strictly forbidden. Railing / wall riding is forbidden. Using run-off areas is allowed. Repeatedly hitting cone markers will be penalised. Racers should maintain a line that is "HLVC" legal. If you do leave the track (as defined by the white lines) you MUST ensure it is safe before returning to the track.

Pits
When entering and exiting the pits you must ensure you do so safely. When you exit the pits you should stay within the yellow pit exit paint on the track and give way to traffic already on track.

Blue Flags:
If you are shown the blue flag message whilst racing it means that a faster racer is approaching behind you to lap you. You must give way to this racer within 1/2 a lap. You should NOT defend your line into corners.

You must allow the faster car through at the first available opportunity. Below is list several do's and donts when leting faster traffic through.

Connection problems:
If more than 50% of racers disconnect from a server the race is stopped. If less than 70% of the race is finished the race will be rescheduled to another host. Otherwise the results will be the positions after the last completed lap.

Points:
Points earned in any division will count towards the overall season standings. Points will be awarded based on results logged at LFS World. If you do not finish but complete over 66% you may apply to be classified and awarded points. This must be done within 24hrs.

Depending on the season points may be allocated differently. See the season rules for details.

Penalties:
Failure to comply with the results will result in either a time penalty (seconds added to finish time), a warning ("Yellow Card"), reduction of points, disqualification from the race, the season, or ultimately in being banned from the league. If you have a complaint about a racer please wait until the race is finished and notify your race leader or an AAL Admin.

Make sure your complaint is valid, by watching the situation from an external view in slow motion, before you submit a complaint. Repeated unneccesary complaints could result in penalties to yourself. The deadline for submitting a complaint is 24 hours after we post our results!

Two yellow cards within a two month period and you will be banned for the next TWO races.
